Design capabilities

eDesigner is EFAB software for creating, editing and visualizing carpet and rug designs and preparing design information for production. It supports design workflows for hand-knotted, machine-woven, printed, hand-tufted and robotic-tufted carpets. The appropriate edition and additional production software depend on your process.

eDesigner serves carpet designers, producers, studios and businesses that adapt or present rug designs. Choose an edition around the work you actually perform, from recoloring existing artwork to detailed design preparation and robotic tufting.

eDesigner brings carpet-specific controls into the drawing workflow, including warp and weft proportions, palette-based artwork, pattern repeats and production-oriented functions. This lets designers work in terms of the carpet structure and output they need.

Yes. eDesigner provides design transformation tools, and Border Wizard helps adapt border layouts to several carpet shapes. Select the edition containing the functions you need and review the result at the intended proportions before production.

Yes. Palette editing and color-management tools let you develop alternative color combinations from the same pattern. Review the chosen colors against your yarn references and production samples before approving a collection.

Yes. Photo Color Reduction reduces an image to a smaller set of colors, after which drawing and cleanup tools help refine the artwork. The result depends on the source image, selected palette and design detail, so some manual preparation may be needed.

Carpet Simulation creates a visual representation of a design. The Room Decoration function places simulated rugs in interior settings in editions that include it. Use these views for presentation and review alongside physical yarn and material samples.

Compatibility and editions

Yes, through the Robotuft Add-on and associated editions. Robotuft Add-on extends the artwork workflow into vector paths and tufting preparation. For detailed path generation, optimization and 3D or cut/loop questions, see the dedicated Robotuft Add-on FAQ.

The eDesigner 26.10 announcement describes a 64-bit drawing engine with multiple CPU cores and design dimensions up to 65,000 by 65,000 pixels. Practical capacity depends on the licensed edition, available memory and operation. Ask EFAB to assess representative large files.

eDesigner supports common raster formats including BMP, TIFF, PNG, JPEG and PSD, alongside specialist formats. It also supports PAT and DES files in both uncompressed and compressed forms. Encrypted PAT and DES files are not supported. Import and export support varies by format, edition and data type. Send a representative file to EFAB to confirm the exact operation your workflow needs.

eDesigner is a Windows application without a native macOS version. A Mac setup requires a compatible Windows environment. Ask EFAB to verify your Mac model, Windows setup and USB licensing hardware before purchasing.

eDesigner editions include Business, Standard, Professional, Professional Plus and Ultimate, with dedicated Robotuft Add-on packages for robotic tufting. Compare the functions needed for your process, then confirm the current package with EFAB before ordering.

Evaluation and licensing

A fully functional one-month trial is available at EUR 250 for eDesigner and EUR 350 for Robotuft Add-on editions. Contact EFAB to confirm the selected edition, applicable taxes, delivery arrangements and current terms before starting the evaluation.

eDesigner is available with perpetual USB-dongle licenses, while annual leasing is offered for Ultimate editions. A perpetual license continues for the licensed version; leasing depends on an active term. Confirm edition eligibility, maintenance and renewal terms in your quotation.

The advertised perpetual USB-dongle license can operate without a continuous internet connection. Downloads, online resources and remote assistance need connectivity when used. Confirm any different requirements for a trial, lease or other license arrangement with EFAB.

Perpetual licenses continue for the licensed version when maintenance is not renewed. Updates and support are covered by the applicable maintenance agreement. Contact EFAB for the initial maintenance period, renewal terms and upgrade options for your license.

Installation, training and support

Ask EFAB for the current supported Windows versions and a configuration matched to your edition and design sizes. Large designs benefit from appropriate memory and processor resources. Include your computer specification and a representative file when requesting advice.

Request the current installer and installation instructions from EFAB. Confirm the software version, license or dongle requirements and whether an existing installation needs special handling. Back up your working designs and follow the supplied procedure for your release.

A lifetime license includes two two-hour training sessions, with additional training available. Ask EFAB to confirm eligible licenses, delivery locations, scheduling and any additional costs in your quotation.

eDesigner uses calendar-based release numbers: for example, 26.10 indicates October 2026. An additional number can identify another release within the month. Releases are published when there are relevant changes, so a missing month does not imply a missing installation.

Contact EFAB with the eDesigner version, Windows version, license type and steps to reproduce the issue. Include the exact error text and a screenshot where useful. Ask for the appropriate transfer method if a sample design or diagnostic file is needed.
